The 2nd Annual Miles for Makayla 5K Run/Walk will once again be held at Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
Your participation will help us continue to raise funds for scholarships and community programs, dedicated to enriching the minds and spirits of our children.

MILES FOR MAKAYLA 5K RUN
This 3.1 mile flat, asphalt course is located in the beautiful Abacoa Community of Jupiter, and is a USATF Certified Course #FL09039EMB. 5K runners will be electronically chip-timed by Accuchip USA, Inc.
Join us for this 1 mile family walk in honor of Makayla Joy. All ages welcome.
Finisher medals will be awarded to ALL runners, ALL walkers and ALL children who participate in the free fun races!
Special Group Award Medals will be also be presented to the top three male and female 5K runners in each of the following groups and age categories: Best Overall, Masters, 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and older.
Commemorative T-shirt included in the 5K Run and 1 mile walk entry fee for the FIRST 800 registrants.
Children’s fun races are FREE (does not include T-shirt).
FREE PANCAKE BREAKFAST
There will be a free pancake breakfast served for all registered participants (runners/walkers) on race day, courtesy of IHOP of Jupiter.

Miles for Makayla 5K RUN:
Start on University Blvd behind Rooney’s Pub; proceed east and turn north (left) onto the southbound lane of Central Blvd, staying on the east side of the road; continue north and go around the west side of the Central Blvd/Fredrick Small roundabout, continue north and turn around approximately 25 yards south of the Central Blvd/Indian Creek roundabout; proceed south on the west side of the southbound lane of Central Blvd; continue south and go around the west side of the Central Blvd/Fredrick Small roundabout; continue south and turn west (right) onto University Blvd; continue west and turn south (left) onto Chancellor Drive; continue south and turn east (right) onto Town Center Drive; end and Town Center Drive and Edna Hibel Blvd in front of Rooney’s Pub.
Makayla’s Mile - 1 MILE WALK:

FREE FUN RACES FOR KIDS
100 Yard Dash
This is for children ages 4-5 and 6-7: Children will start at the 5K finish line on Town Center Drive and run west towards the Abacoa stage, ending at the corner of Town Center and Crescent Blvd. Cheer on your child as he quickly dashes to be the first one to cross the finish line!
25 Yard Dash
This is for children ages 2-3: Children will start on Town Center Drive and run west towards the Abacoa stage, ending at the corner of Town Center and Crescent Blvd.
This is for children under age 2. Race will take place on the grassy area in front of the Abacoa stage. Distance is approximately 25 feet. Come watch your wee little one crawl, scoot, or toddle in this ever so cute diaper dash!

Food and refreshments will be available after the race, along with family entertainment including bounce house, games, and more! We are planning these now and will update you soon!
Proceeds from this event benefit the Makayla Joy Sitton Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501c3 organization committed to funding scholarships for children in need, giving them the chance to enjoy the same creative pursuits in the arts and education that Makayla so lovingly embraced. Your support and participation will help fund music, dance, and singing opportunities for children who would otherwise go without. The Foundation proudly partners with some of Makayla’s favorite places to make those young dreams come true. The Foundation is also dedicated to providing events and programs that will enrich the minds and spirits of our children.
Dogs, rollerblades, skates, skateboards, bikes, or scooters are not permitted on the 5K Run or Makayla's Mile race courses. Strollers and baby joggers are not permitted on the 5K Run race course, but are allowed on the Makayla's Mile course.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there restrooms available at the race?
Yes, public restrooms are available by the amphitheater.
Is this race timed?
Yes. Each participant in the 5K run will receive an official race time at the completion of the race. Computerized “chip” timing will be conducted by Accuchip USA, Inc. All participants in the 5K run will be required to pick up their bib, t-shirt, and chip prior to the race start time. Any participant who does not wear the chip or who fails to pick up the chip prior to the race start time will not be timed or scored in the results.
Will there be water stations available at the race?
Yes, there will be a water station on the course around the half way mark as well as at the finish line and at the food and beverage tent.
If I am only registered for makayla’s mile or the free children’s races, do I still have to check in at the registration tabel on race day?
Yes, even though you will not be chip timed, you still must check in to pick up your bib and t-shirt prior to race start time.
Will there be medals awarded?
Yes. Finisher medals will be awarded to ALL participants. Please refer to the Event Details section, under Medals.
Where can I park?
You can park in the Abacoa parking garage across from Roger Dean Stadium. Please refer to the map located under Directions.
